So tell me about CONFESSOR...

This is one band from the 90's that I never really checked out.
I have seen them described as "technical doom".

They have covered a couple TROUBLE tracks on some EP, apparently.

Is this mandatory?

I know we have some techinical metal as well as doom fans in the house.

excellent band... I don't know if it was me who called them technical doom or not, but that's how I'd describe them. If you're a doom fan, you need to hear them... if you can find a copy, get Condemned first... if not, just get Unraveled. Keep in mind that the production on Condemned is not good -- you can't hear the bass at all -- but the songs make up for it.

Actually, I think I've heard them called progressive doom, which I could definitely agree with more than technical doom...since tech doom would almost be a contradiction in terms

Confessor is really good stuff and "Condemned" is definitely a better album bass or not.

The vocals were a little too "southern fried" for my liking.
The music was good though.

Jason...you need to get Wotan and Mael Moroha.....Wotan has that Doomsword sound and Mael Moroha are very doom influenced. Also you NEED to get Gjallarhorn. It is the guys from Doomswords viking band. They are just like doom sword but with viking lyrics.
