It's basic concept is reinterpretations of various national anthems of countries that have had rather agressive imperialist policies in present day and in history. Kind of easygoing electro-based music on this one, and certainly not like some of the full-blown techno like these guys have been known to do in the past.

don't listen to the single though. The single sucks. Listen to these songs instead:

Germania
Italia
Yis'rael
Rossiya

I predict that this thread will die in approximately five seconds after I post it.

Canada doesn't really qualify, but if you want, I'll record a martial industrial version of Canada's national anthem this summer. But for now I must waste my time on my various other pursuits of homosexuality.

Dear Dierdre,

I listened to a techno/electro/folk band playing industrializes covers of imperialsitic national anthems, and now I feel an overwhelming urge to goosestep around town in a PVC Nazi stormtrooper's uniform (with the bum cut out). Is this normal?

Regards,

Worried in the West Midlands.

whoa, i knew the soviet anthem was fucking epic but i never knew the lyrics were so awesome

I'm not sure of the lyrical accuracy on these all of these things, but I imagine they've been bent a bit for artistic purposes (actually comparing with wikipedia the Russian one looks really close) since I know the american one is way outta whack.

some of it was from the soviet anthem, some of it was from the internationale

So, am I not paying enough attention here? When I first saw what this album was about I thought it would either be downright derogatory towards these nations or at least ironic. But instead, it actually seems to be the opposite. Well, all except the one for America. What the fuck is that about? Is America the only one to get gypped here or am I just not catching the irony in the other songs?
