this is probably intressing for you:
the german AE-college "HOFA" started theier 3rd annual christmas-mix-competition. 2 multi-track-songs to mix, one is a pop-rock-song, the other electro-dance (price for the winner: 2x 1000.-EUR)
http://www.hofa-college.de/pages/start/aktionen/xmas2011contest.php
site is in german, but you can download the tracks under "hier geht's zum Download "Weihnacht komm ich heim"" and "hier geht's zum Download "Close To Me"" (you have to enter your email-adress)

i haven`t heard the tracks yet, but i think this is a very good chance to mix other stuff than metal ;)

if someone want to enter this competition, the rules are simple: everything is allowed (triggering, reamping, muting ect), except adding additional tracks/voices/instruments ect.
competition ends on 16.01.2012, you have to send a cd with the tracks to HOFA.

cheers! :)

ok, just to warn you: i listend to the "pop-rock-song".... uaahahahh.... boring christmas-music, nothing with pop or rock... just to say ;)

well it sounded intersting atthe begining lol, but then i heard the song.. its more electronic i guess.. a bit boring it is, but maybe it worth trying!!

yes, the second one is electronic, the other with acoustic-guitars, strings, piano, drums (all real). i started to mix this one, but damn, this is fucking hard. i have no idea where to start ;) so much dynamics everywhere... i`m feeling like a complete noob again, this one need a complet different approach in mixing than metal... but i will spend some hours on this, i can only learn from it ;)
