Soilwork Bonus DVD

Same here. I actually like the 'edge' the guitars have - it reminds me vaguely of the 'bite' that Chaosphere has, but this tone lends itself better to melodic stuff.

I think the guitars leaves more room for the great vocals on the record.
+ they got a unic sound to it, and I think that's what they were after, since so many bands have copied their sound.
It sounds so much better on the cd than everywhere on the net.
I got a little worried at first!

Tonigh I'm gonna see the guy's at stockholm, going at the backstage area, that's gonna be so niiiice! :D

Man, i got my copy today! Fuck! What the hell did they do to the vocals? Triple tracked them? Speeds voice is coming from everywhere!
Just great! This is soooooooooooooooooo fucking great! And the DVD is cool too! Man... fuck how great that is....

SOILWORK!!!!

100% agree. On first listen the guitar sound stikes you as odd but when u get used to it i think it;s actually pretty cool. Guitars still sound heavy and clear but have pretty original sounding tone (which is rare in metal these days). The studio report things on new inflames album sound like they r going for a similar sort of tone (although that could be reamped etc b4 mix so....).
Songwise the album hasnt blown me away but does seen strong, certainly less filler than STD. Title track, exile, i vermin and pitsburg r all really good.

I actually like the guitar sound. Much better than that phasey crap on the new Arch Enemy, anyway.

okay so i'm not going crazy afterall. I thought something was wrong when I heard that phase on the guitars. It's very annoying. And yeah, I like the new soilwork album. The guitars on it sound cool but are also kinda thin.

Martyr should absolutely be more than a bonus track... jesus christ... good fuckin song.

Vocals are ridiculous... just ridiculous! Devin is too good.

I got impatient and bought the CD at the store, even though I ordered it weeks ago. I'll just give the other copy away I guess.
Anyway, really great songwriting overall...I'm not disappointed at all. About the only thing lacking to my ears, is that from listening to all the solos, it's noticeable that Peter Wichers really has some serious flair in his playing that the current guys don't have quite as much. By all means, I still enjoy the new leads, but I miss hearing Peter's specific character as a guitarist!
And of course, as everyone has mentioned, Bjorn's vocals are awesome. Anytime you get Bjorn and Devin together to do anything, it's bound to turn out awesome. That studio footage with Devin is hilarious...he's definitely gained a little weight since he has more time to sit around at home, haha!
I also like the guitar tone, but it's not mind-blowing...and actually if I lean forward about a foot in my car, they have this weird constant resonant frequency that is kind of irritating...so I just don't lean forward!

Same here man. I have no idea WTF was going on with that production. Not up to Nordstrom's standards.

not enjoying this release at all..It's well played and solid but completely lacks in the songwriting dept....Completely underwhelming compared to NBC or even FN5. I would say it's on par with there last disc...
