Serving time in the middle of nowhere
Been wanting to start a discussion about them for a while, interested to see what the general consensus is. Second to Vitus, these guys are my favorite American doom band. Their doom is truly hypnotizing to me. Totally heavy, yet a phenomenal sense of melody. Robert Lowe is my personl favorite vocalist. I love it when he goes into those trance-like long-winded wails. Anyway, the poll is obvious, favorite album.

I'm going with Alone. Even with albums like Beyond the Crimson Horizon and Through The Darkest Hour behind them, that one knocked me out and still does. Songs like "Scent of Death", "Upon Within" (now that's a chorus!), "Tomorrow's Dead", ect... Man, that's good stuff. Lowe never sounded better (to me at least). Those wails I mentioned above, the ones twards the end of "Scent of Death", incredible.

I'd also say I find Adagio to be slightly underrated. "Lament" is an amazing song.

I didn't enjoy Alone that much, but my favorite would probably be Through The Darkest Hour followed by Beyond the Crimson Horizon. It was great seeing them live at Powerfest.

Into the Depths of Sorrow

Discovered this band by accident years ago. I think it was 1995. I was looking up this band called Aeturnus; a horrible Christian metal band. I found that old Solitude Aeturnus fan website that had been around for so long. Anyone remember that site? I can't remember the name. I read some of the lyrics from ItDoS and fell in love with it before even hearing it. It's still my favorite from them.

Buy the Hour Of Despair DVD if you don't have it btw. Every time I watch it I curse fate for not letting me see them live , they seem to create some immense atmosphere.
