Solution to make a cheap home made e bow?

Before jumping in to buy one i am wondering if anybody knows how this thing works, and if it s easy to make a cheap home made version of it....

Shit, I might even try it myself.

EDIT: On further inspection, yeah, the schem is easy, but the magnetics might make it a bit too much effort.
