something for your ears!

The mp3 compression is very annoying, but the sound seems to be very good ! (listening through cheap headphones too ).

Is it a real drum ? How did you record the guitars ? Please, provide us some more details !

Brett

the mp3:

it's a shitty 128K Mp3 i'll put a better one online today!
I have another version with other Snare/Kick Samples

the guitars:

It's all done with a PODxt Custom Setting (Treadplate Dual,
an old Ibanez Tube screamer, my Epiphone Les Paul Custom
It's 2 Tracks on each side Panned 100% left/right | 40% left/right
I use little EQ (lo/hi Cut), Sonic Maximizer, C4(andys setting)

the drums:

were recorded in our Basement Studio although it's not a professional Studio
the sound is not that bad. The Kick is Sampled from Exodus (i forgot the name of the Song :yell: ) the snare too. We had cheap Mics for recording
so i had to replace the snare and the Kick 100% same with the Toms (NI-Studio Drums)

I tried various Samples. The Kick/Snare was just a try yesterday but i think i like it...

I use Logic Audio, Waves Plugins, 2x Delta1010, BBE S.Maximizer and a bunch of free Plugins.

Rock on! :headbang:

The drum sounds really good. The kick (still that Exodus sample ?) and snare are trigged you said, but did you change the velocity sometimes or did you leave them full volume ? It doesn't sound too mechanical (at least to my ears, but then again, we are getting so used listening to drum machines nowadays that we end up finding them cool...). One little thing though, you should try to fix some very bad timing of hits, really disturbing... And maybe a little bit of reverb on the toms wouldn't hurt (maybe on the snare too). Beside that, excellent work !!!

Hi Brett!

Yeah it's still from Tempo of...
I used the humanizing function in Logic to get the snare-velocity a little "uneven"

The kick is always on full volume! i used the reverbed sample from the beginning of "Throwing Down" for the slower parts.

btw: i used no EQ on the Kick/Snare (Andy EQed it for me already:D )

I know 'bout the timing prob! everytime it disturbs me to much i listen to St. Anger and think to myself :headbang: ("Metallica sold millions of it!) :headbang: so what...
But i should really try to fix the VERY BAD hits...

There's not much Reverb on the Snare and toms do you reallly think i should
push it a little more??? ...ok i'll give it a try!

What about the Bass/Guitar sound...

rock on! :headbang:

you should definately! if st anger came out today, as from an unknown band, people would laugh it away and not buy a single one of it. Just because it is selloffica it sold millions, for no other reasons, other then marketing of course.
