i totally just remembered that the guitar solo that probably influenced me or did more to shape my eventual soloing style more than any other solo was totally Kirk Hammett's solo in The Struggle Within off of the Black Album.

Fucking great album. I don't care what anyone says, Metallica kicks ass. There isn't a single bad song on the entirety of the Black Album. So what if James starts actually trying to sing, most of the album is still really heavy and very good.
