I just picked up one of these.

WOW! at first I could harldey hear a difference, But thats the beuaty of it. It doesnt change your sound it just shapes it and keeps the lows nice ant tight and the note crisp and clear. Also helps to kep the note consistant when doing power chords! This little thing is awsome. Highly recomend it! Im using it in the chain between my ts9 and ns2 through my 5150 II. Its absolutley crushing!!

hmmm, the guy at the local music shop told me that if i bought the Rocktron Nitro Booster (probably becuase it was right there in the store) it will do the Exact same thing as the BBE Sonic Stomp.

I am still not impressed by the Nitro.

Yeah sorry James I did miss it. I try to keep up with you guys but dont have the time. Was it good or bad for the maximer, because I really like the tone. Its a handy pedal to have around to give another wise lack luster tone some sparkle. I know the rack version has been around for a while. just thought id share that with ya
;).
BTW you goingg to the NAMM show in LA next year?!

The Sonic Maximizer can be an effective tool, if used sparingly and not on guitars. It has the kind of sound that is very cool when you first turn it on, but loses its luster very quickly and you'll probably end up removing it from your chain, wondering "why did I ever use this?"

Yick... BBE'z....

I love seeing pics of dudes racks and they have both process knobs CRANKED. =)

Aside from using the plugin VERY sparingly on a kick drum sample, I think they can sterilize, transmorphify, and overtly garfunkle a source.

It's a phase/time alignment tool. BBE process comes on sony tv's, they sound a really expensive outboard box for Alpine car decks, etc etc.

It's tomfoolery and trickery, IMO.

From my experience, I prefer sonic maximizers live, but never recorded.

When bands play shit legion halls (with no mics.. just vocal PA) they need all the help they can get with low end, and in that case, sonic maximizers seem pretty handy. Recording them is a whole other story.. loses clarity if you ask me.

I had a rackmount Maximizer for a while, and later sold it. I was using it with my Line 6 Flextone II at the time (2001), and I quickly figured out that it was hurting my sound, not helping.

Hatred of BBE SM is total group think... one just feels good to state it... it's like the Krank Amp on HC...

Eveything has a place...

I'm curious to try the Sonic Stomp in front of my 6505+, as I haven't heard one used with a tube amp before, but I'm not exactly going to go out of my way, especially given James' opinion. I'm very happy with my tone as it is, but curious as to how exactly Jeff Loomis is using it, or IF he even still is.

LMAO! thanks for the support there Lynchpin! turns out the sound everybody has been raving about here has a maximazer in it. Maybe he only uses it for live situations. So it's used by people who's always getting compliments on there sound here. Go figure .heh well for each there own.:Spin:
no "maybe" to it.. i was at Backstage while jeff tracked his guitars and there was no sign of BBE in the building. thank you, and good night.

Thats not so uncommon. The first thing that comes to mind for me is the fact that Sin of Society 1 is endorsed by Crate amps, but he only used a Line 6 Flextone II head and Crate cabinets....The bassist (at the time, it was Aleister, for those who give a fukk) was using the Crate full stack that Sin used in the photo shoots for his amp. And before any of you say "that's impossible, a guitar amp used for bass??", I know how it was done, and it's not that big of a secret....the cabinets were rewired for a different ohmage...thats it.
