So who else here likes Sonic Syndicate? Anyone? I've always been a medium wave length fan but that new single Burn This City is majorly catchy. The death focals rule on that song. Plus I have a crush on the bass player. They are long overdue for a US appearance.

Yeah I'd have to agree with Jibrille. They opened for Nightwish and were pretty damn awful in my opinion. Even what I've heard of their recordings, they annoy me. Haha.

Well I guess I am in the minority here, I DO like them. Say them with Nightwish in Vegas and they were pretty damn good, a real surprise to me.

can't say I've ever voluntarily listened to a Sonic Syndicate tune. They are, as a friend of mine would say, "metal you're girlfriend will love"

Yeah, they've been to the States before. I saw them on that Amon Amarth tour. Sorry to burst your bubble, though, bro, but I didn't like it at all.

They sound like In Flames' new stuff. Strike one. I do not like their vocalists, really. Strike two. Biggest criticism: their bass player (while attractive, sure), is terrible. As a bass player, I usually watch bassists most of all, and she does nothing but play whole, half, or quarter notes based on the root of whatever power chord the guitarists are playing. And she does it boringly with little energy whatsoever. Me and my buddy made fun of her all night. Strike three.

You nailed it when you said they're trendy. But if I want that sound, I'd rather put in some Soilwork than this band.

Very well done modern day Gothenburg metal with good pop songs thrown in there. They aren't reinventing the wheel, and there's a thousand bands out there sounding like them. BUT, they are a lot of fun to watch live, incredibly nice people to work with (I've had the pleasure of hosting some shows for them in Denmark at The Rock) and they have a really good sense of how to market themselves.

Aaron, I love this band! Actually, I picked up on them via Facebook courtesy of John Cheek. :)

My question is, why in the hell would anyone put Sonic Syndicate on the same bill as Amon Amarth? Naturally, most AA fans wouldn't dig SS!

From what I recall, that tour had awful support bands. Also, (and I'm not stereotyping here) but Amon Amarth has the biggest female fan base in terms of death metal, and I think it's something that could appeal to them. Just a theory and I'm probably completely wrong. Though I have heard that about that Amon Amarth bringing in more females than any death metal band.

Three words - Children Of Bodom. I've never noticed a disproportionate number of females at an Amon Amarth show, but CoB seemed to have a remarkably large following in the 16-25 year old female demographic.

at the HOB show last year, there was lots and lots of ladies there. Seems the more mainstream underground metal bands get....the more girls who suddenly are into them. Kind of an odd thing I have noticed as of late.

<<Most of these ladies are in XXXXXXL Nightwish shirts.>>

LMAO

Just about spit my diet cherry pepsi on the laptop!

Now that you mention it, I did notice some young hotties at the last COB show at House of Blues.

I can't believe Sonic Syndicate toured 2x here (both with bands I love) and I missed it. Time for some serious self flagellation.
