Many years ago I heard some Sonic Youth stuff but couldn't really get into it. My musical palette has really expanded since then, so I'm wondering if anyone here likes the band and which albums they would suggest starting with or checking out?
This band is seriously great, Check out ''A Thousand Leaves'' too, a very trippy, beautiful album, full of slow-building songs that might appeal to post rock fans.

I would start with Daydream Nation and Sister and branch out backward and forward from there. Give Daydream several listens as it is definitely a grower in the way that OK Computer is. Like many great albums, you will have a hard time pinning down what exactly makes it so good. But it just is.
After many listens, come to Los Angeles July 20th where they will be playing the whole record in concert to celebrate its 20th year. I will be there for sure.
