Soundtoys 5 Update

I actually came here to check if anyone talked about this. I have heard that sonic wise there is little to no difference, but more presets, and also a module-rack kind of possibility which allows for more crazy presets in a single instance. I am considering it. Just for the non-ilok thing I would actually think about it !

iLok is still very much required for authorization, but they let you license the computer rather than the iLok key if you want.

They're running an upgrade offer where if you own previous products you can get the upgrade for $50. I did it but haven't tried them out yet. I know that Philbeard got them and was digging them, had zero issues with migrating from sessions running v4 to boot.

...? I literally posted this after clicking the email from them and logging in to look at my upgrade offer. I own licenses for Native Effects V4, Little Microshift, & Little PrimalTap. The best upgrade price listed was trading those all in for V5 for $175. You sure you're not talking about upgrading just a single plugin, like EchoBoy, by itself?

About the iLok, maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it says exactly this on the page:

"Flexible Authorization

iLok dongle is now optional
Authorize on up to two computers with no iLok key required."

This means 1 transportable iLok usb dongle or 2 standalone computers?

Yup, I'm sure. Purchased via link in an email received on the 15th - "Soundtoys 5 Has Arrived! Get Your Special Introductory Upgrade Offer"

iLok (company) lets you have licenses either assigned your computer (via ilok license manager) or assigned to your key (iLok dongle); they give you two licenses, so you could have two dongles, a dongle and a computer, or two computers licensed.

Weird. I never got an email giving me the $50 offer. I'd probably do it for that price, but probably won't for $175, as it doesn't really seem to offer much that V4 didn't already have/do.

Did you just buy V4 recently, maybe?

It's because you jeff must have had other soundtoys licenses on your account. With a single V4 license like mine, it's 199 dollars. With a couple other plugins including the free ones they released as a limited offer or something, you can get down to 50 bucks.

Like with the "microshift" etc, you can save a dozen dollars from the 199 (they justify it as a thank you for following them eventhough the plugin was given), with a standalone plugin + V4 maybe another 50, down to 50. In my case with nothing else than V4, it's 199. Also once you accept you're giving back all the licenses you tick on the page (otherwise you would still be able to sell them eventhough you profited from them to get a discount)

I added v4 + 3x "little" plugins

Yup. You do surrender the licenses, but I gave them an edu license and three plugins they gave me just for hanging out on the internet too much and they let me upgrade for $50. No brainer.
