Is it a wholly seperate genre where we need to file it into 14 different subcategories? Nah. Does this particular little niche deserve its own thread? Yeh!

Been listening to a lot of COC and Beaten Back to Pure lately, this kind of stuff is what hot summer evenings with a cup of whiskey were made for. Half Sabbath and half Allman Bros., this kind of shit just rules.

Gimme more. MORE!

Glad to hear you've been digging BBTP. I need to check out the new COC--any good? I'm a pretty casual fan.

Not sure yet, promo is on its way to me right now it seems. Have you heard Deliverance? I'd have to say that's their best one, but all their post-Blind material is pretty good. And yeah thanks for turning me on to Beaten, these dudes fuckin' rock.

A band I've never seen mentioned here, that should have been long ago, is Scissorfight.

THey are from New Hampshire, but their souls must have been born in the deep south. Total beer-swillin', bar-fightin', tittie-grabbin', doobie-smokin' fun. They are on Tortuga Records along with Old Man Gloom and others, so you know they are quality. These guys show me that those northerners might know how to do it right, after all.

And how can anyone hate a band whose singer is called Ironlung?

NicomøøsE gave me an mp3 of those dudes, I was quite impressed. Where's the best place to start with them?

I need more OMG.

Deliverance is awesome, but I've always given Wiseblood a slight edge over it.

I'm so looking forward to the new one

New Hampshire or Mantrapping for Sport and Profit. I wouldn't bother with Piscataqua or Deathchants, Breakdowns and Military Waltzes. Unconventional Warfare EP is really good, too.

They have two albums before they signed to Tortuga, but those weren't all that great IMO.

New Hampshire, Mantrapping, and Unconventional is pretty much all you need.

And how any fan of Southern music can not like CLutch is beyond me. There music oozes The South Rules (because we do). "Drink to the Dead" :kickass:

D'ohkay. Thanks for the link J., and what I remember of Clutch (been a looooong time) yes they rule.

Anybody have CDs that say MASTERED BY NIMBUS on them? It'd be on the little strip of shiny shit near the plastic center of some CDs. I remember seeing that on Primus - Frizzle Fry, if I had a high quality digital camera I'd take a picture because it's kinda hard to see.

Always wondered what the fuck that meant.
