Anyone here a fan of them? They absolutely amaze me at times. The techicality and musical talent is practically unmatched by most. One of the most musically talented bands I have ever heard. Probably more than Rush.

Ive heard good stuff botu Lunaris. Ill check em out. Thanks man.

Ya, Norberg on bass is unreal and their lead guritarist Gunderson is incredible as well. Drummer Mickelson who plays for Borknagar as well is insane as well. Hægeland has a great voice as well but the only complaint is that i wish that he would stay more in flow with the music...although its kind of tough with such techicality.

Rock out with your cock out!

I still can't find Sceptics Universe in Australia.

I have one song, Cloud Constructor, which was enough for me to say that Lars is my favorite metal bassist.

They are amazing...

It's a pity they couldn't write some really good tunes to go with their technical skills. Although I think their music is ok, it's a bit of a case of Malmsteen syndrome imo. Uber techno talent, uber lack of music. But that's just my opinion.

If I want to hear insanely technical music that actually sounds good, I listen to jazz. Which, for the most part, is plenty more technical than Spiral Architect in any case.

If you like Spiral maybe you can try Gordian Knot, it's instrumental but they are very insane with music. His second album has has an incredible line up.

Yes, I agree about Gordian Knot, and their albums are brilliant. The first one is my favorite instrumental album of all time. I like Spiral Architect ok but for one the singer annoys me to no end and for two I wouldn't say they match Rush musically. Other tech-metal bands like later Death, Cynic, Extol, et al have a lot of soul whereas SA doesn't seem much to know how to put that in their music yet. So it's just fodder for the tired "wanking" argument from people. Maybe they will improve..

They recorded an amazing version of "Prelude to Ruin" by Fates Warning. I think that was for some tribute album, but I haven't seen it anywhere.

Anyone hear of plans for a followup to A Sceptic's Universe?
