So I mix everything in one big session because I find it wayyy easier. I'm wondering after I render everything, what do you guys use to split up the tracks and make sure everything plays gapless?

I think he means mixing all the songs on an album/EP in one session, then exporting them and splitting them up into the individual files.

I'm not sure tbh, I'd just cut and make sure there's a little bit of crossfade, and do all fadeouts, etc. in the big session rather than after rendering.

You can use markers, and render the whole file as a disc image. There's a checkbox for it in the render dialog.

I end up recording like 10 songs on the same project, get my basic mix done, and then cut out everything but one song to mix them down individually to taste (i don't use automation all that much), then put the mixed tracks back in reaper for 'mastering' etc...

If that's the case, yeah I agree with you, I don't get why you would render everything and then bring it all back

Do you mean there are specific mastering extensions in Reaper ?

I don't think they're meant to be specifically for mastering, it's just a package of extra stuff that reaper itself doesn't include. there is the way sloan said, if it's going straight to Cd, if not Autorender is the best if you want quick wavs or mp3s to upload to the internet

i agree, if i'm just doing some quick mp3's, i'll smash the master buss however and just use autorender.

i only put the mixdowns back into a 'mastering' session if i'm doing a whole project; to get overall song levels balanced etc...
