Just wondering how much this could affect signals.

My band is recording ourselves again soon and we normally just have the recording rig in the same room as the drums. I want to get away from this as it ruins my ears.

Thinking about a 50' or 100' snake to get me out of the live room.

Is this any different than a regular patchbay? Will there be any loss in quality over the length of a 50' or 100' cable?

Also - any certain brands or models to stay away from? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of $ here....but I've stumbled across this:

Thoughts, opinions?

50 to 100 feet is fine as long as it is being used for low impednace sinals like mics and outboard gear, but not instrument level. If you use an instrument like a keyboard or guitar you just need a di and then can run in through the snake. A live snake is practicly the same as a recording snake, where the recording is usually deisnged to be connected to patchbays so they tend to have different connectivity, in some cases, needing to be soldered to the patchbay. At the end of the day when it comes to quality you just want a low capacitance line and good shielding to prevent crosstalk, all which features are adequate with live gear.
