99% of why Aerosmith has been annoying, tacky, etc. is Steven Tyler. He truly is great and terrible at the same time. The music they did in the 70s was amazing, and there are some good tracks on most of their subsequent albums as well, but it's not a band I really think about much anymore when there's so many great bands to listen to now.

As a fan, I'd be open to the idea of Aerosmith with a new singer, there's nothing wrong with that concept to me. I don't feel like they could ruin the Aerosmith name more than they have already, so anything they can do differently is theoretically an improvement.
