Stoner Kings - 'Brimstone Blues'
11:40'46"
This is surging, pulsating, beer-drenched rock, obvious from the outset. Imagine if Kyuss had lived next door to Guns N' Roses with Motorhead as their landlord. A glorious mindfuck of sweaty rock 'n' roll, showing that Finland doesn't just generate power metal or bad Eurovision entries. This may well be something to do with having a Canadian-born frontman (and an ex-pro wrestler no less), but the rest of the band have that 70s-drenched six-string swagger down just fine, regardless.
Songs like 'Cosmic Dancer' and 'Tragedy Man' have a heavier edge than you'd usually find in 'stoner' rock, while still maintaining the 'put-rock-first' attitude of the genre.
Great stuff. Great riffs. Fucking great album!
