Well now that is offical I would have to say I am jumping on this upgrade. There are some great new features. The two that intrested me the most were cakewalks version of automap (I can finally automap my NoVation SL 61) and there whole quatinze upgrade. Which includes a extract midi from audio feature that I have been dying for. I can finally do my triggering into DKFH native.

yep....looks great.....enough for me to stay a Sonar-ite for a while longer yet. I hated Sonar 3, loved 4 and am digging 5PE so hope this keeps the trend going.

I'm also a Sonar 5PE user, and I'm stoked. Can't wait.

You know what I'm really happy about that seems like a very insignificant issue? I'll get to name all of my I/O ports! :kickass:

Plus that audiosnap suite and the vintage channel thing look pretty promising too.

Honestly, I thought the new features were disappointing.

The only way I'll upgrade is if they offer multiple track freezing. Well, that's a lie. I'll upgrade like a sucker as usual.

I'm glad you can finally rename ports to logical names. That has always pissed me off.

I think they finally did this to shut everyone up on there forums. Which is a agreat thing.

Not sure what you mean by this. You can feeze every track in a session already.

But only one at a time. I've bitched about that for 2 years.

What I want to know is if it's going to be buggy as all hell like the previous versions I've used. All the features in the world don't make a difference if the interface blows up every 20 minutes.

The first version WONT be stable. Wait for the first point release and it will be "good to go".

You'd be crazy to try the initial release on a paying client.

Good to know. I'm a Sonar 4 user and was just about to buy Sonar 5 anyway. I guess I'll use 5 and update it, then leave 6 in tha box til the update comes out. Looks like I get 6 for free if I buy 5 this month and get a $100 rebate.

Another great thing I just noticed is they made the vst adapter native.

Lets wait and see first. We all thought that last time too.

v5.2 is rock solid right now... however, 5.0 and 5.0.1 was not.

And dontletmesrown, I hope your using v4.0.4 as that is the only 100% stable 4.x release.

hmmm. I just checked and it is 4.0.0. I've recorded many bands with it, but yeah, it is buggy as fuck sometimes. Has crashed a few times that caused me lots of grief. I wonder if I should even bother updating now since I'm going to just buy 5 anyway.
