I'm really digging their album. It's a lot different from Arjen Lucassen's normal work in that there's no spacey synthy sounds rumbling about, but it's definitely got his trademark all over it.
Like most of Arjen's music, it definitely bounces around between pretty heavy metal to real soft ballads, often going from one extreme to the other inside of a single song. Which is something a lot of people I know hate, but I'm not one of them.
No grunting death metal to be found, which is probably a good thing not that I've ever really minded it coming from Arjen. Then again, I generally think Arjen's a bloody genius, so I'm slightly biased.
I haven't even gotten around to listening to Neal Morse's latest...at least, not properly digesting it the way a good prog album deserves to be digested.
