Canadian progressive metal titans INTO ETERNITY recently completed an extremely successful run as part of the “Summer Slaughter Canada” tour, which also featured Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Beneath the Massacre and Whitechapel. This trek marked the kick off of their worldwide touring cycle for their much anticipated, fifth full-length, The Incurable Tragedy, which is slated for a Sept. 2nd release in North America, Europe on Aug. 25th and Japan on Aug. 27th. The idea to write and record an album that explores the effects of cancer was culled from the passing of guitarist Tim Roth’s best friends, brothers Dave and Danny Stephenson. The two passed away within two months of each other, both from cancer. To make matters worse, when the band began demoing new material shortly after the completion of the “Scattering of Ashes” tour, Roth's father was diagnosed with cancer as well. The Incurable Tragedy is not only a tribute to the lives of these three people but to those before and after them who suffer through this disease, either personally or through loved ones. Additionally, the Stephenson family, Roth and others have helped contribute to Band of Brothers, Inc., a non-profit organization committed to raising funds to assist families with costs associated with recovering from cancer.

The Incurable Tragedy is the first INTO ETERNITY album to feature Justin Bender (guitars) and Steve Bolognese (drums), who came aboard shortly after the group finished Gigantour ‘06.
