American Christian heavy metal band Stryper were scheduled to perform at Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg, Sweden on Thursday, June 5. Regrettably, that will no longer happen.

Festival organizers issued the following statement earlier today, Wednesday, June 4:

“Unfortunately, we have to announce that Stryper, who was supposed to play tomorrow at Sweden Rock Festival, is forced to cancel their gig due to unforeseen logistics problems. We have been working hard to find a replacement and will announce one as soon as possible.”

Stryper’s announcement reads as follows:

“We regret to announce that Stryper will be unable to perform at Sweden Rock Festival this year. Midway through our flight to Copenhagen last night, a malfunctioning smoke detector system and power failure, forced the plane to return to the U.S., preventing us from making the trip. We’re deeply disappointed. We were truly looking forward to returning to Sweden. To all our fans, friends, and fellow bands at the festival, we wish you an incredible weekend and hope to see you again soon.

God bless,
Stryper”
