Stupid cable question from a technical moron

I just got my Radial X-Amp for some reamping at home. My problem here is:

my firepod's line-out is 1/4" jacks (balanced) and the X-Amp has an XLR-female input.

Is it possible to just use an adapter cable for this (going from 1/4" to xlr-male)? Without considerable loss of tone?

TRS = 2 conductor + shield.
XLR = 2 conductor + shield.


A TRS to XLR cable will work fine.

I use this type of adapter on a spare mic cable between the Firepod and X-amp.
