This is something I'd forgotten about, but I was just reminded when I slipped on Still Life for another listen. Is it just me or does Serenity Painted Death sound like it ends with a few notes missing? I always thought that it might have just been a bad copy I had bought, but I downloaded an MP3 of the track and it seems to have the same ending. I don't know, it just sounds like the track is cut of suddenly at the end, like a bad edit. Probably just me...

...I'm not sure what Akerfeltd himself has said about it apart from the fact that it's supposed to be that way... but if you put it in the context of the Still Life story, that abrupt ending in Serenity makes a lot of sense. It might signify the moment the narrator in the story is captured. (remember in Serenity, melinda is a captured, killed, and the narrator goes on a killing spree himself and then is captured "At last, weak and torn, I went down
Drained from strength, flickering breath.....starlit shadows on the wall, finally there to collect me from the bowels of sin")

but it's still a bit odd that the song is listed
as a few seconds longer (myabe 5 or so) than
it really is.... could it be that it was meant
to have a normal end, but the managed to mess up
the mastering/mixing ?

When I listen to that I get the feeling that the end has been ripped from me, kind of like melinda was ripped from the main guy?:loco:
