Subcyde - Subcyde

Now this is the perfect antidote to all the poisonous sing-along guitar melodies and shouting/whining vocal approaches that are so common these days. Subcydes self titled debut effort is a ten song sledgehammer to the skull, a totally uncompromising, viciously confident slab of bruising metal. Theres a heavy dose of latter-day Testament in evidence, a hint of Black Label Society at their heaviest and nice bit of prime time Pantera attitude and swagger.
Power Smash is a real highlight with vocalist Antonio Ravina Da Silva growling you better grow some balls, boy in classic Anselmo fashion, but essentially there is no weak link to be found in the armour of this album. Every song on Subcyde wants to pick a fight and knows its going to win. Nothing here is going to lift you to another plane of spiritual development or fire your imagination with mythical tales but if you want something to put a smile on your face while you beat your friend bloody in the pit then youve come to the right place. Without exception the ten songs that make up this stunningly assured debut offering hit hard and get the old neck muscles twitching. Its a big, fat slab of metal what more can you say really? Why over intellectualise? This is basically a brick to the face.
