SUSPYRE ANNOUNCES NEW DRUMMER

Whitehouse Station, NJ – February 23, 2009--
SUSPYRE, a progressive metal band from New Jersey, announces after almost an entire year of auditions that they have a new drummer, GABE MARSHALL.

Gabe Marshall has been surrounded by music since birth. His mother, a former pianist and saxophonist, and father, an avid fan of rock and roll, spun records around him constantly – Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin and Earth, Wind & Fire can be heard in the background of many home movies.

As an energetic child, Gabe discovered percussion as an outlet for all his pent-up fervor. He joined the middle school concert band at age 12. And, at age 14, his parents bought him his first drum set. Shortly thereafter, Gabe joined forces with high school friends to form the punk rock band, IDC. Years of playing Green Day, The Misfits and MxPx covers, as well as originals, deepened his passion for music. It was at this point when Gabe decided to pursue a career in the field.

The ever-present support of his family encouraged him in his aggressive pursuit. Private lessons were funded, which eventually led to a spot on the University of Missouri Drumline. Endeavors in indoor drumline and Drum Corps International furthered Gabe’s marching percussion education, culminating in landing a spot on snare for the 2004 Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. He claims that his ability to wrap his mind around the difficulty of progressive/metal music is an attribute of the music he played while at the Cadets.

Music next led Gabe to move to New York City, where he attended the Drummers Collective. Pocket, styles, technique, reading, improvising and meshing with a band were drilled away on a day-to-day basis during this program. Twelve-hour days of drumming deepened Gabe’s skills, appreciation and love for the instrument.

Gabe is very excited to be collaborating and performing alongside these commanding musicians. It has always been a dream of his to play such high level music in a band of the likes of Suspyre. Similarly, Gabe expressed, “As well as being phenomenal musicians, they’re a blast to hang out with. The vibe is great and the shows are going to be killer!”

Clay Barton, vocalist of Suspyre, said, “It has been very difficult the past two years for us to really give our fans the live shows they deserve because of not having a permanent drummer. Now with the addition of Gabe, his talent and enthusiasm will allow us to be the band we want to be and move us forward.”
