This is big over here in the U.S, it's call "Midnight Riding". Basically, a bunch of twats (strange twats), gather at a meeting point after sundown. It is here where they knock back a couple 40's, then ride through the streets as gaily as a noodle down a poodle's throat. There's also regular stops for smoke breaks, oy vey. A fixed gear bike is also recommended for emphasis.

I've heard of beer rides where people ride during the day, making stops at checkpoints to drink, occasionally to raise funds for some cause, but never heard of something like this.
