Swanö in the US again!

I may do this, depending on how things go. Also, it depends on how things will be going in 2012 since it's very close to Progpower (possibly even that weekend if moved up again). I also would say this isn't a sure thing as it doesn't seem they have the funds at the moment considering they're doing the "pledge your ticket" thing.

I would definitely love to go to this. But being that it'd be so close to progpower, I wouldn't have the funds since my dollars will be dedicated to progpower for sponsorship. But, maybe Glenn could work his magic and have Swano come for PPXIII, since he'd already be in the US. That is if that festival actually occurs.

This is definitely interesting and potentially exciting for us older prog fans. But I agree with nomisofsiman, this is a long way off and only a dream at this point. Obviously the funding is very iffy. I would like to see Swano again. When he performed at PPII, I was not a fan yet. Sadly his performance looked bad since he sat on a stool and performed with a music stand on stage. Acoustically I believe. I don't remember being blown away by his performance either. But I'd love to give him a second chance. As for Cryptic Vision, they were one of the great highlights at CalProg. And then there is Arena. I'd also love to finally see Arena in person. They and Fish perform so infrequently in the States.

I cannot understand the business decision to put it the week before PP USA. I'd really considering going if they hadn't done that. I'd love to see Arena & Nightingale again.

Wow, does that mean you might lay off the gas pedal of metal and book something more AOR or hard rock for PP? I know you've done so before with PC69, but even you admit that was a "oddball" pick that year. Seems the festival has continued to evolve more metal and what I consider more extreme metal. Less like Savatage and more death metal.

I'm guessing that they were hoping that having it on Labor Day would help people who would be travelling. But still, I agree, there is some crossover audience. I would love to see Nightingale, but since I already know I'll be doing ProgPower, I don't know how I can afford the drive/stay up there (plus DragonCon is that weekend, and I tend to go there too).

Not to mention that it is competing against ProgDay. Given the struggles of prog festivals, it doesn't seem smart to compete directly with another one.

Or money.

Yeah, I don't get requiring you to sign up to get info from some of the links, and I have no idea WTF they are talking about with tiered tickets, pledges, donations, etc. Just tell me the effin ticket price is $ and be done with it. Also mentions three days of music, but I don't see enough bands for that.

I'll keep any eye on it, because there is some neat stuff there if it comes together, but I don't know what they're waiting for. Only a few months away.

As others have pointed out, this is in 2012, so I would guess they are still in the sponsorship stage.

As for the number of band, it seems about right. From reading the description, it looks like the two cover bands will do the preshow, which leaves four bands a day for the main event.

Not every festival runner is as nuts as Glenn.
