ah, good stuff Snert! oh, and Martyr's Crown: "shun the unbeliever!!!" lol...death metal's awesome! well at least you're into Becomeing the Archetype

All of the bands you mentioned are Melodic death metal... I hate these categorisations :((

It's all good music but gets old fast...

Sacrificium - germany's best Christian (somewhat melodic) death metal band in my opinion

I'd actually label AILD as more metalcore with some Thrash tendencies. BTA is more progressive/melodic death metal though.
And personally, I think all music with growled (or screamed) vocals gets old fast, but then again, I know people who can't stand the wailing and choruses of power metal. All perspective :p

Black Metal is better than Death Metal i guess...but Metalcore stuff like AILD take the cake as the best growling/screaming bands....progressive/power metal is the best in all though

Metalcore and its offshoots are pretty uniformly crappy to me, honestly. Prog metal is best, of course, when you can get it good - there are a lot of really generic prog metal bands out there.

prog can definitely go both ways yeah...it can't get as bad as bad screamo though, lol

Screamo is a tricky subject. Technically speaking, it evolved out of hardcore punk, and is essentially emo music with screaming, and is pretty much universally horrible. Unfortunately, MTV started calling every band with screaming/growling/harsh vocals "screamo", so now you get people saying that black metal or thrash metal or death metal is actually terrible screamo. It gets extremely annoying.

Hahaha! Preach it brotha! :D

Yeah... I personally don't like black metal very much and only some thrash... but it isn't necessarily bad... Cuz a lot of those peeps have talent and they scream/growl tastefully. Screamo on the other hand is a sort of failed hybrid of music... :guh:

Although they're not my preference, I can enjoy screamed/growled vocals when used in the correct context. Most bands fail miserably at this however.

I'm working on a poster of sorts that detail all the main forms of music back to 3 distinct styles: Traditional Heavy Metal (AKA Black Sabbath), Rock 'n Roll, and Disco. These 3 genres literally spawned all forms of popular music today. The only genres that predate these three that have any form of recognition are Jazz, Classical, and Blues (with Blues being responsible for Metal and Rock, and Jazz responsible for Disco)
