Now it's not coming out till 2007? Holy crap.

Blabbermouth article:

Progressive metal act SYMPHONY X is continuing work on its follow-up to 2002's "The Odyssey", entitled "Paradise Lost", tentatively due in early 2007. The following message has been issued by the group's official webmaster:

"Just spoke to [guitarist Michael James Romeo and] here's the latest:

"It seems that this is doomed to be the 'Murphy's law' CD, where anything that could go wrong, will/has gone wrong. Due to technical problems, first with the studio computers, and then with the failure and subsequent replacement/installation of somewhat-hard-to-find parts in Michael James Romeo's amps, the band's about two weeks behind where they'd hoped to be progress-wise at this point. This has thrown off the projected date for getting the CD out and mixed, so they've had to push back the date for that by about a month in accordance with what dates were available to them.

"Currently Michael James Romeo is getting his guitar parts finished, and after that Mike LePond will finish up his bass parts, and then Russ [Allen] will enter the studio to work on recording the vocals.

"Mike asked me to extend the band's appreciation to the fans for their patience, and at this point, is anticipating a release date after the New Year; I have no doubt that it will be well worth the wait."

SYMPHONY X was recently forced to cancel a couple of European festival appearances after bassist Michael LePond was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease (an inflammatory bowel disorder). He has since underegone surgery and has been released from the hospital.

SYMPHONY X was one of the second-stage bands at last summer's Gigantour, a six-week festival trek co-headlined by MEGADETH and DREAM THEATER. "Rarities and Demos", the first fan club CD from the SYMPHONY X fan club, Church of the Machine, was shipped out in July 2005 to fan club members. The CD included demo material, rare unreleased material, and guitarist Michael James Romeo's interpretation of the "Star Wars" theme, done with over 15 guitar tracks.

I guess on the bright side at least they aren't calling it Chinese Democracy...

P.S. It was really cool meeting you in Atlanta, Dude...

That is too bad. Before this, they were pretty good about putting albums out every one or two years. Now it is going to be 5 years. Hopefully it will be good. I guess the next Allen/Lande album will be out before this one.

Romeo wanted the guitars & bass recorded first, is all, & that's been delayed by technical SNAFUs left and right.

Hey Jax, I appreciate the insights, but I don't think that really answers Greykiller's question. I think most folks were under the impression the reason Russ wasn't at PP last weekend, was because he was busy recording. Turns out that he's not only not recording currently, but probably won't be for at least several weeks. Any onfo on why he wasn't at PP?

Maybe personal reasons? Family things? Plans? Root canal? He doesn't have to answer to us... in my opinion.

Heck he could be recording things for the new Jorn/Allen album. Shrug. ... started posting this before the above one! =p

Was Allen supposed to be at Prog Power, or was it wishful thinking with Jorn being there? Or was this some big rumor for a surprise? Just curious as I was not there and don't know what people were thinking...

Actually, the original reason for Russ having to turn down the opportunity was that it was hoped that the band would be done with the cd & heading out on tour around now. It wasn't a conditional "well, maybe if I'm not busy" refusal; Glenn approached him earlier this year, Russ said he couldn't do it, & that's that. :)

It was wishful thinking; Glenn did approach him way back when, but Russ declined. Can't blame folks for daydreaming, though. ;)

Paradise Lost eh? Have they said if its a concept album?

It'd be cool to have an album about the Milton book of the same name.

So like umm...he couldn't change his mind considering he wasn't doing anything? Surely LSS hasn't set in...the band hasn't had a hit single yet.

Zod, wasn't I complaining the other day about how long it was going to be between releases for SymX? Oh well, what's another month or two. Maybe if I get lucky they'll have something about before I collect my first social security check :)

Britt

PS Nice to meet you, Thorn ... hope to see you back again in 07'.

There are so many things SX related that I question on a day to day basis, I wouldnt know where to start. If SX is all the guy's main career focus, you certainly wouldnt know it sometimes. I guess I just view them as a band that, at this point, should be at a different place in their career than where they currently are.
