Just saw the press release on the official site (from March '07). It says "... first ever jaunt to Russia, India and the Middle East".

So is it something that's really happening? Cause me and some friends are dying to see SX live.

Don't get me started with "Really, you have running water and electricity? But isn't it dangerous for the camels, with the water and electricity?"...

Most of the people have internet, so they have about the same sources for music as the rest of the world. I think within the genre Dream Theatre is much more popular here, but it's still has a considerably smaller audience - I guess like everywhere else most people are into current pop/hip-hop.

The main difference is that we rarely get artists performing here, not cause Israel is so far away - but because we're surrounded by muslim countries with a much narrower world view - so bands can hardly tour the surrounding area. It would be getting on a plane with all the equipment and roadies for the one show.

Though 2007 is a better year - we had Paradise Lost (the band), Megadeth, Evanescence here and Nightwish are coming in October.

Branching out in markets they haven't touched on is great. Their supporting role on the Dream Theater tour should do wonders for them.

First of all, I have no interest in meeting you. I really thought you were a European not a US citizen and I would never have to answer for stupid, juvenile remarks I’ve posted to you. Now that I know you live in the states, I realize that I have to punk out now and start back peddling fast. Mommy said that’s what I should do. And yes, internet is my life, yeah, I do spend most my time on the computer. I can be brave and courageous knowing I’m safe behind my trusty keyboard and computer screen. I'm a troll and I can jump in this forum and slag anybody...Mods don't seem to mind...I guess I'm cute. Yeah, it probably does make you feel better to think that i'm just some geek who has no real life experience with anything other than hiding behind my computer, when in reality i've put myself out there more than 99% of the boy band sites. I use my real name to post, i have pictures, at one point my damn phone number was posted on the forum as well as my home address to attract the young male fans. Yep... I’m a wuss.

Cute, but pretty much failed. I kept the spirit of your original post. You just posted the opposite of mine and inserted some childish references. At least i played on stereotypes. Discussion over, please stop fucking up perfectly decent (not to mention completely unrelated) threads with your "southern hospitality" kthxbye.

Back on topic....

It seems like bands are getting over into eastern europe as well as the middle east a bit more and more. I could be full of shit, but it seems like blabbermouth has had a few articles here and there about bands making it into that region. Still, i understand it's a bit out of the way for bands. hmmm....

Well we have some very thirsty fans here. I think with a little marketing practically any international act can get a sold out show here, maybe even two shows.

I don't remember the name of the album where they play most/all of V live but it sounds amazing, I have to see it for myself. I mean it seemed impossible to recreate even half of what was recorded in the studio - but they just play it as is.

That's pretty cool, I didn't even know that Symphony X's influence went out that far. Man, they are sure blowing up in terms of popularity.

I'm Kuwaiti.
Yeah, people do have internet lol.

If they ever come to the Middle East area, I'm 100 percent sure they would come to Dubai for the Dubai Desert Rock that happens every once a year I think.

I watched a documentary on metal in Iran a while ago. It was quite interesting. The term "underground" that we commonly use to describe the metal community is moreso over there because if they get caught at a metal gig they can get arrested and thrown in jail.

Actually now that I think about it it was actually a documentary on art in general. One guy was going to get put to death for portraying an "evil" something in his paintings. Can't remember exactly what it was. I think it was nudity or something like that which they called pornography.
