One of my favourite albums. I like it even more than Toxicity and thats hard to surpass! The vocal production is great, indeed.

On the last two albums Darren really needed to STFU and let Serj do his job IMO. There needed to be about 50% less Darren for it to be as good as it could have been.

isn't it Daron? But yeah I agree, I really liked his voice on the first two, but it went overboard after that
Considering Daron writes EVERYTHING in each album, he deserves to be heard. In Hypnotize I didn't like his contribution to the vocals all that much, but Mezmerize was perfect IMO.
It helps, to me, that this was the album that got me into SOAD, might be different for most of you older guys.

BTW, Steve Harris writes most of Maiden's stuff but not as much as Daron wrote SOAD's. Your point still stands though, just saying.

I was a big fan of SOAD when I was younger and now I can't stand to listen to them. It's just too over the top and annoying to me. I don't get what people find appealing about this band.

Yeah, first SOAD album here was the Self-Titled too. It's the only one that doesn't sound immature and dated to me now, which is ironic considering its their first disk.

Oh those 1998's, I used to hide my copy of Follow the Leader and only blast it when my parents were out cause I was afraid they'd get mad cause of all the cursewords haha being married doesn't help the whole "I feel old" thing either

this record is my adolescence. this and rage against the machine's s/t, anyway. i remember being impressed with the way mezmerize and hypnotize cases fit into each other. 
and now i have to spin it again to see if it holds up.
