I have been seeing a shit ton of good reviews on these things and the prices just have me going WTF???

Anyone have any experience with any of the guitars other then the big ol' 8 string?

I have been looking at these:

I saw a ton of the Keith Merrow stuff and its really impressive the way these things sound. I am just weary about the EMG's as I am not the biggest fan but I LOVE the way those Intrepid's look.

Gimme the digggs boys!

I asked around, prior to buying an Agile, and the feedback I was getting was that they were solid guitars for the money. Not unbeatable bargains, but good, solid guitars made at competitive prices.

After owning one for a while, I can say that that was a very fair description of them.

SX and Douglas are ones to avoid, from what I've heard. I'd not feel too bad about buying an Agile to have around, but I'd cringe at an SX.

The 7 string Tele is super tempting, though!

I have only had the Agile Intrepid 8-string but it was a really nice guitar for the price. I am currently looking at the AL2800 baritone model from them. The Agile stuff pretty much always gets great reviews, from my experience with the 8 I can see why.

Ya I totoally expect to have to do a setup and possibly some fret end dressing. How is the overall tone of the instrument? Floyd stay in tune? Any intonation issues after setup?

Had a couple of buzzing frets on my 828, so I had it set up. Sounds great now. Keeps its tuning very well and there are no intonation probs that I can hear. Tone, is, imo, very nice.

Have an AL-3200 and a Pendulum fanned fret. Both have been great after a setup.

I'm considering getting one of the Pendulum models, the picture they have on the Rondo site is pretty sweet. Do you think it would be easy to switch the pups (or pup as it were) to say, Blackouts? I'm not sure of the size issues with Agiles and custom pups.

I have owned pretty much everything from Rondo, Brand wise. Agile, Brice, Douglas and Sx. They go in that order quality wise too.

All are good values for the money some more than others. The B stock items are really a steal. I havent had any issues quality wise. The tuners on my Sx are a lil wonky(lil play in the action)

Another great thing is Kurt(the guy who runs it) has top notch customer service. If you get a item that is damaged they will get you a refund or another guitar sent out.

I just bought 2 Sx bass guitars. Got a 4 string and a 5 string and they are both sick, shit even with stock pickups! Some of the best bass tone I have recorded so far is from this Sx bass believe it or not. I have a set of Fender Jazz pickups i might try in my 5 string as well.

I should post a clip of this bass tone I just tracked.

Also the band i'm tracking right now has the Agile 3100 i think or maybe its a 3000 (I can check tomorrow) with a pair of Emg 81/85 and it sounds so fucking good. I'm about to swoop a few of these for studio guitars as well. They have a really woody/thick tone and its kinda different, but so fucking thick!

I think for the price you cant go wrong. Yea you may get a high fret and they always need a setup but with a little love/tlc these are great guitars.

Overall tone with the stock pickups was good, close to the epi-lp. I put in a set of Kent Armstrong PAF clones in mine. Sounds as good as my 57 reissue for 1/2 the price. No intonation issues, I have the fixed bridge and keep it tuned to C#.

The new pendulums are routed to be compatible with the blackouts. I got the first rev that wasn't angled with the strings and had to route it for the posts.

Agreed, I love my SX bass. Plays well, and sounds absolutely great. It was only 100$ too!

I love my Agile Interceptor Pro 7. The finish looked better in person too. I've played a few Ibanez 7 strings and didn't really click with them, and this one is half the price.

recorded a few over the past year or 2 and to be honest they stayed in tune better than alot of the more expensive gtrs I've recorded..... could be due to the setups or the others lack of but, nothing but good things to say here. oh yeah the stock pickups sounded really good too
