Tankard – Best Case Scenario: 25 Years In Beers
Peaceville Records – No Barcode – Out Now
By Dan Fisher
“We want to drink some fucking beeeeeeer!” - Andreas Gerre Geremia. Genius.
Sounding like a cross between Motorhead, Maiden and Discharge, with the emphasis on drinking rather than thinking, Tankard are back. Having given themselves the dubious title of "world's first alcohol themed band" they have taken 25 years of song writing and rerecorded their greatest songs. As you can imagine, there are alot of references to booze here so if you’re looking for something cerebral than you can buy a Pelican CD. If however, you are looking for something to bang your head to while getting ready to go out or listen to while driving to a gig then this is the bollocks. I am actually very impressed by the new recordings as the band have captured the immediacy of their live sound. 'Zombie Attack' and '666 Packs' have found a new urgency, each one sounding like the rush you feel when you've downed ten shots in a row and are looking for that cheeky beer to round off the night. A most excellent feeling indeed! So let me raise a toast: here's to 25 more years in beers!
