I wasn't able to get through this album...
Is it that awful or what?!

I held off buying it because I wasn't sure if she could stand on her own without Tuomas' writing. I don't doubt her singing abilities but...

I was in the movie theater not too long ago and they played some dance track by her. I was surprised to hear it in the suburbs of Ohio. It wasn't too bad either.

I like it, personally. Of course, I'm a metalhead, so it's not going to get played a lot in my Hallowed Halls. But I do have occasions for mellower music, and now I have one more album as an option (along with Blackmore's Night and Ambeon).

The songwriting is not on par with Nightwish, obviously. But there are some nice songs on the album, and Tarja's vocals will always be heavenly to me.

It's horrible. I downloaded out of curiosity and nearly kills me, and her version of 'Poison' is terrible. Both Nightwish and her are done for me.

To clarify, her voice is great.

I semi-disagree her voice is not nearly as good as was during the "Oceanborn" period.

And cool now Ryan uses me as an anti-meter

NP: Tarot - 'Expected To Heal'

My fav female metal singer (there is not many I like) would be Sara Jezebel Deva (Cradle Of Filth). Her new band Angtoria- "God Has A Plan" was a fav in 07' . Check it out.

Hm, I didn't know this was out yet. I did want to check it out. How is the instrumentation on this one?? I love her vocals on the early Nightwish stuff & she's hot, so you get two in one with her.

You can split hairs if you want. I think the vocal is angelic and a fanstatic use of her abilities...

I can split hairs I'm bald, but to each its own, glad you enjoy her, I don't anymore :D

P.S. I still do love the old Nightwish material tho'

I once sampled a few Nightwish songs, I couldnt get into them and eventually deleted them. I dont like that opera soprano thing. I also saw two shows this summer with opening acts that had that type of female vocalist. Not for me, I want to hear some grit, I want to know they have some soul inside there. Wheres the Ann Wilson of metal ?

If you want grit from a female vocalist, you can't beat Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy.
