During a brand new interview with Newsmax TV, outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent spoke about getting to spend some time in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump back in April. Nugent and fellow Detroit-bred musician Kid Rock were joined in the White House by Sarah Palin, the former Alaskan governor and GOP vice presidential nominee, who posted photos of the visit on social media the following morning. Asked if he had any one message that he wanted to impart to the American people based on his meeting with the president, Nugent said (see video below): "Yes, I do, and it's probably the most important message that a citizen can convey via the opportunity and the privilege and the honor to get to know the president in the Oval Office, in that environment that is a sacred grounds, really. He emphatically impressed upon my wife Shemane and his guests that, number one, he really cares. He was unguarded. We talked about the important things in life, like Chuck Berry music and killer guitar tones. And he was interested in my hunting conservation lifestyle. He was interested in the dialog that I've had with working-hard, playing-hard, great Americans who make sacrifices and take risks to be in the asset column for their family, their community and this great country. He knows those people. He's one of those people. I know what it takes to be a successful businessman and to create jobs and to hire people and to make things and to provide services and quality products for a quality of life. He understands that risk taking. He understands the sacrifice that working American families have to put up with fifty weeks a year so they can have two weeks of soul-cleansing, recreating time so they can get back to work. Most emphatically, I think, he understands that he works for 'we the people' and will be guided by the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights." Nugent went on to call Trump "a great man. This is a man that I would have at a Thanksgiving family dinner table," he said. "This is a man that, if he was my neighbor or a friend and he wasn't there taking care of the most important business in the world that I could call and rely on. "In our hunting world, we have a term, it's called 'blood brothers,'" Ted continued. "It's an aboriginal term, which means that you will be there for your family and your neighbors, you will be reliable, you will drop what you're doing and help when help is needed on a personal and neighborly basis. And that's the Donald Trump that I got to know for over four hours in the White House, and I came away, like, 'Whew! The bureaucrats' status quo establishment have just met their match.' That's why I'm happy that Donald Trump is the president — because he's there to eradicate this death wish of the status quo and the bureaucratic strangehold that they've had on this experiment in self-government. It was a real relieving time." Nugent also spoke about Kid Rock's (born Robert James Ritchie) suggestion in July that he was considering a run for U.S. Senate in Michigan, selling "Kid Rock for Senate" merchandise online. "My friend Bob Ritchie never thought, never hinted, never mentioned, never gave any consideration whatsoever to running for public office," Nugent said. "Some goofball in the Michigan GOP just pulled it out of their ass and said, 'What about Kid Rock?' Meanwhile, Kid Rock's rocking and rolling, he's touring, he's writing songs, he's recording, he's got a full-time job, and he's a great man. And quite honestly, I know Bob, I know Kid Rock — he would make a much-improved representative in Michigan for 'we the people.' Logic, truth, common sense, that goodwill and decency and that work ethic that makes America work. But that the GOP and the media continue to milk this nonsense is one of the most embarrassing chapters for the Republican party." Nugent added: "Somebody write this down: Kid Rock ain't running for squat. They made it up and they're running with it and they should probably stop and focus their resources on someone who can beat the Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi wannabe Debbie Stabenow. She's bad for Michigan, she's bad for America, and the Republican party better get somebody in there who can be a status quo crusher like Donald Trump. That's why we took the embarrassment — the embarrassment — of the reliably blue state of Michigan, which is not a blue state; there's no blue states in the nation. There's only Democrat-run, high-crime blue smudges. Every state is a red state. The red states make this country tick, they make this country great, they make this country strong and productive every day, and somebody in Michigan better get in there and keep this getting rid of the embarrassment of a reliably blue state, just like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. They're not blue states — they're red states with a bunch of manipulative, high-crime, blue Democrat smudges that we've got to fix A.S.A.P. So somebody better put their resources together for someone who's actually running for office instead of this nonsense that Kid Rock is gonna stop rocking and rolling and run for U.S. Senate. You've gotta be kiddin' me." Two weeks after implying he was considering a run for U.S. Senate, Kid Rock put his decision to run on hold and announced he was creating a non-profit to promote voter registration. "If I decide to throw my hat in the ring for US Senate, believe me... it's game on," he said in a statement.
