Can someone shed some light on this. I came across this on the new NIGHTWISH video blog. For anyone who doesn't know who Tero is, he has been the producer of most of the NIGHTWISH albums and has recorded some of them and is their chief crewmember on the road. Has he passed away or has he just left NIGHTWISH.

Just left Nightwish as far as I know so don't worry man. I saw the last show with Tero on the crew still and they publicly announced on stage him leaving the crew, it was the New Year's show on Jan 1st.

Thanks Aki, it would have killed me if he had passed away. he is so much fun to hang with and such a gracious person. Hopefully he will still do the producing of the CDs.

Very odd that you would title a thread RIP without knowing whether or not the person actually passed away or not. You could have given someone a heart attack for god's sake!

Thanks for fixing that topic heading. It did indeed freak me out. I knew he had left the employ of NW for other pursuits but I thought it was on "his own terms." Whew.

No worries, Tero Kinnunen is alive and well! The RIP in the Nightwish videoblog clip was a kind of inside joke which started at the last concert with him with the Nightwish crew, as Aki said above.

Tero has been with Nightwish since the beginning and he is actually the man who had a big part in creating the distictive Nightwish-sound when he recorded the first songs for their demo and later for Angels Fall First -CD at Kitee Youth Center studios back in 1996-1997. Ever since he has been the sound engineer and (co)producer on Nightwish CDs and also travelled as technician and roadie with the band.

During the time he also became well known and appreciated rock/metal studio engineer and producer in Finland, thus he has no lack of work at home. Two years on the road again would have been too much for his current life and work. If you didn't know already, his main job now is running the E-Major studio owned by him and Emppu Vuorinen of Nightwish.

We will hear his work on several bands' CDs in the future and when Nightwish enters studio for the next CD, Tero will be at the recording desk again.

Thank God for that, Tero is one hell of a cool guy, and fun to hang with. I wish him all the luck in the world.
