I was really surprised by how much loudness with no noticeable change/artifacts the Stillwell Audio Event Horizon + limiter produced - it didn't start squawking like a chicken!!!

I'm a cheap bastard, enough that I want a free 1073 EQ plugin. But I just bought a MacBook Pro. I think there's a paradox there.

They kick ass. They're all over my current project, adding punch to my snare and weight to my kick.

you mentioned they are free... how does the "free" license works?

VH100R: they aren't really "free". They have a "nagscreen" that asks you to register them if you use them regularly. Out of all the Stillwell plugs I tried so far, the only one I use regularly is Event Horizon Plus, so I will buy this one at the beginning of April.

Obviously if you don't want to pay for the plug, they can't make you, but they are hideously cheap: http://www.stillwellaudio.com/?page_id=14

Gladly! If you're interested, here's a roughly mixed chunk of drums with the aforementioned samples. Don't know if I'm gonna use this particular clip, but: Exocaster's drums with Faderhead kick & snare samples. I think they're pretty alright.

wow, i just replaced all the kicks on my project with the starclassic. my hat's off to ya smy1 - that's one badass kick. i'm getting a very bonham sound now coupled up with a little subsynth. if it stays all the way through mixing you'll definitely be in the CD credits. thanks!

regarding StillWell plugs - i love them. i'm a reaper guy - so they come stock - but they're very good and Scott's a really decent person. i haven't used EventHorizon that much - but maybe i should. the reaper folks over on their forum talk about it all the time.
