That Opeth drum mix

How on earth can you get drums to sound like that? They sound really natural and seem to have a ton of reverb, yet, they're metal as hell! I don't get it

If anyone knows the magic behind them then please share!

Probably all their modern sounds (ie. from BWP on), since they sound quite similar. Their older albums don't have all that good drumsound (though the albums are better ).

Ghost Reveries drums have barely any verb at all. A lot of it seems to be coming off the room mics. I can't say I've ever been too impressed with their drum sounds... although the playing was great.

i was thinking the same thing about the ghost reveries drums. but i think the blackwater park drums are pretty cool sounding, tho the kick gets lost constantly. :Smug: but i love that snare

ooh god yes thats a good point, in fact, all the opeth albums have a different quality about them drum wise that is awesome
