The Black Stymphalian is back...with a teaser!

NICE! I'm only listening on headphones at work, but since I listen to music on them all the time, I've gotten accustomed to their sound. Nothing for me to complain about on first listen. Don't know which I like more...the guitars or drums! Yeah, that snare is really nice.

The snare is snare5A, with a fair amount of processing. I find snare 5 to be really 3-6k heavy without much botton end. I think ill slot a few other kick drums in with kick5 too see how that fairs, if not im quite pleased with just the 1 sample.

The toms really flesh out the drums, I'm loving that. You've got a great snare and a great bass tone, but the toms just make the whole package.

Great sound dude! i agree, that snare is ace.. love all of the drums a lot btw.. maybe up the bass i bit though?

good job, cant wait to hear this with vocals.

Up the low end of the bass or the bass itself?

Might need a few pointers off you regarding synth/orch mixing hehe.

Yeah same here, but ive never really wrote lyrics before and I don't have a singer but the singer from my old band has offered his services so that might need to happen

Probably one of the best guitar sounds you've recorded James
This shit is sweeeeeet

hey,sounds great!!

I'm beginning to ask myself what fucked up version of slatedrums I've got, I've got 5A mentioned in the manual, but it's not on the DVDs.

you did a great job with the snare reverb as well!

Thanks man!

Updated the link once more if anybodys interested. Should be putting solos down on monday and ive got half the lyrics wrote so its coming along nicely!

Hey James, let's see - first off, NOT a fan of those toms, very harsh and fake sounding, like the drum module preset on a Casio keyboard  Snare is cool, though a bit snappy for my tastes, I'd suggest toning that down a tad. Kick is good, though could use a bit more smack (or maybe just come up in volume). Guitars sound damn good, though I feel they're conflicting with the synths - it's the kind of guitar tone I think I'd love on its own, and it does sound really good here, but for some reason I can't put my finger on, they're getting kinda masked, and pitch is hard to discern. AWESOME music by the way dude, really really fucking cool, can't wait to hear it fleshed out! But yeah, bring the synths down a bit IMO, that'd probably help the guitars. What channel/speaker on your cab did you use?

Link updated,

Fiddled with the toms, with a A/B comparison they sound much smoother and more natural now I guess. Synths brought them down, hopefully you can still hear them. I toned down the snare slightly but I don't want to alter it much because I really dig it.

My pitch is always hard to discern :) Did a few more minor adjustments aswell.

Speaker was bottom right and it was on the Orange channel.

Mark, its got about 4 EQ's on that snare
