The Cure

Disintegration and Pornography are great. I really like Bloodflowers a lot too. The recent stuff has been disappointing.

Quite possibly my favourite band at the moment. Discuss them!

Robert Smith has a cool hairstyle.

one of my favorite bands.
pornography is great... disintigration is one of the greatest albums ever... faith is very good... kiss me is very good... head on the door is great... yes an awesome band.

Apparently you like U2 though.

Apparently you like metalcore... but I won't hold it against you. :p
80's and ealy 90's U2 is good. Honestly I don't see how a fan of rock music wouldn't like The Joshua Tree or War. Those are great albums. I never bothered with last album and they have been rather sketchy since Achtung Baby.

Ok good. I hate U2 but anyway. I always thought Seventeen Seconds was regarded as one of The Cure's best.

Pornography and Disintegration are generally considered to be the best albums by them. Definitely check those out.

Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography are the coldest and most lifeless, but you really should listen to the pop albums too, (most) of them are amazing - Japanese Whispers, Head on The Door, and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me in particular. Bloodflowers and Disintegration are a different breed because instead of being cold like three I first mentioned, they are more just melancholy and sorrowful, Disintegration the most so.

edit: I also like the dodgy attempt at art-punk of their earliest years (Three Imaginary Boys, Boys Don't Cry)

Faith seems like an excellent album from what I've heard, I really need to pick it up along with Disintegration. I also want to get one of their more poppy albums, I'm guessing The Head on the Door would be a good one to get.

Whats their newest album like? Any good?

Pornography is my favourite, but almost everything they've done is at least worth a listen. They're one of those bands that are great even when they're having pop moments.

Has anyone heard 4:13 Dream yet? It's definitely one of their more upbeat albums, and i've only listened to it a couple of times, but overall it seems pretty decent. No Pornography of Disintegration though. Those two albums, i'd say, even had a great influence on metal, particularly on soom the 90s doom stuff. Katatonia are definitely Cure fans, for instance.
