Hello everyone!
I'm from Madeira, a island in the middle of the atlantic ocean and finding this forum was the best thing that happend to me at this time cus I'm new on recording my own stuff. This is my first mix for The Dead Silent, my band and I would appreciate any help to get it sound better or just acomment about it. Thanks

For guitars, i used a pre E530, a Power 840/50 and a 4x12 cab all from engl mic with sm57
For bass we used an ampeg head that I don´t remember the the model with cab impulses

PS - Sorry my english

Sounds like either the main vox has is too low in volume with too much reverb or something. Now that I listen to it more, all the vox need to come up just a bit. Some more tracking on the guitars would help a bit, seems a bit but overall very nice indeed.

Hey, thanks for the comments ;)
I have another question that I hope anyone can help, when I recorded the guitars for this track using a sm57 I recorded the line out of the preamp and liked to know if it´s a good idea to use it with impulses to get a fuller sound? It's the same guitar tracks but using the line out.
Thanks

Wouldn't hurt to try would it.

You should at least reamp so you can experiement with different ideas such as your pre amp out, different mic positions, Amp sims (ReValver, Wagner etc.)

Reamp a distorted guitar sound? Is it possible? I didn't recorded the clean signal of the guitar through a DI just the line out of the E530 Engl preamp with the sound already distorted (amp sim off) :(
I asked this cus I don't know if there is phase problems using the impulses for the same guitar line.
Thanks

Hey man really nice job! Sounds pretty damn good to me. I think the guitars sound fine for the type of guitar playing that is happening, although I would also have to agree that the vocals sometimes seem a little lost, maybe just a bit too "washy" sounding during the cleaner parts. Other than that, really kuhl song and nice work. Question ... did you do any kind of quick mastering on this or is it just a straight mix?

Hey!
[to Skinny Viking] Thanks for the comment, what do you mean by "washy" clean vocals? Less reverb? more? I was hoping that this was the final master hehe Cheers ;)

Vou adicionar-te no msg, o meu nic é s2c

Um abraço

Hahahaha ... ummmmm "washy" ja, ...

maybe a little too much reverb in those spots but its also just an opinion. It seems to me that if there was just a little less reverb on those particular vocal spots they might have a little more impact and clarity when they jump in. Again, just a matter of personal preference and taste. Believe me, I think it sounds really good. That was why I was hoping to hear you had done some mastering to it because if that was just a straight mix, I'd be a little depressed because I A/B it with one of my recent mixes and yours was louder and a bit punchier ;)

Cheers!:kickass:

Hey I'm going to go completely contrary to everyone here....

I would pull the screaming vocals down a bit... The layers as well. Maybe a little mroe Kick, though pulling the vocals down might fix that.

Just my two cents...

Hey just gave the 2nd one a good listen ... sounds really really good! Sounded like those cleaner vocals were cutting through a little better without losing any of the atmosphere. Very cool

Cheers!
