What do you think of Leppard's guitar sound on X, Euphoria and classics like Adrenalise and and Hysteria.

I really like their sound, and I am fan of Phil Collen's riffs and simplistic yet AWESOME leads.

Also, who here WISHES that they would release an album SANS all the love song bullshit (which will never happen)?

Oh and their drummer has only one arm.

hi I´m doing a sideproject during free time in my studio. Just to let you know-drums and guitars are soundwise copied from hysteria. Guitars through Rockman + Behringer Speaker simulation. When it´s ready it´s gonna sound like Hysteria. Rock `til ya drop!

I have the DVD documentry of Hysteria. Yeah rag on me if you want. That was my fave in Jr. High. Any how. Mutt said they used the old Rockman walkman a lot for leads, clean and some overdubs. They said they liked the chorus on it quite a bit. That's what I recall most about the guitar sound discussion.

Hysteria is amazing, as is Pyromania. Hysteria though, to me, is really one of the milestones of sound design and engineering. Such a killer sounding record. It's irreversably influenced my taste in music and my preference towards precision in a mix.

Adrenalize was... well I'm not going to be harsh on them because they were recovering from Steve Clark's death... but I think the only good song on it was "White Lightning."

I love the vocal production on "Bringing on the Heartbreak" from 'High & Dry." Just amazing. Then Mutt Lange lost his mind when he started doing Shania Twain.

Her records sound great if you can get past the cheesy pop aspect. Besides, I can't exactly blame him for "doing" her. :p

Phil's solo on Let's Get Rocked is one of the best examples of a short and simple, yet extremely kick-ass solo.

I used to have dreams that he and Dave mustaine were with me at home and I would ask him to play that solo... on a guitar made of thin white cloth.

Anyway, that solo was my first real intoduction into the world of awesome soloing, in contrast to watching hair bands and pop bands on Tv doing solos just for the sake of keeping format. Or watching some guy in some blues band solo.....zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

And how Marty-Friedman esque are some of his solos on Euphoria?

I remember first time hearing the intro to "Gods of war" and thinking - how can he hold that looooooooooooooooooooooooong tone?? Then I found out about ebow!!! For me it was revelation!!!! So ofcourse I told the guitarist on in my Leppard project to get one. We are recording solos until wendsday- the a new band enters the studio and I am to reality. Oh - happy new year guys and girls(any girls on this forum??)
