The Firstborn – The Noble Search

A cacophonous effort of progressive music is delivered to you by the likes of this band which play a unique type of music. They have the chops to become quite attached to their style and sway forward with their own rhythms quite well. The Firstborn has the permutations of oceanic waves carrying their sound to other dimensions of likeability. The gradually building layers of sound create an interesting manner of overwhelming you overall. Sometimes the songs take a little bit of time to build momentum as seen from “Sunyata (The Wisdom of Emptiness)” and eventually graduate to a crescendo of sounds.
The form of the music is a jagged progressive experiment that brings out the best ingenious tendencies the band has to offer in a fine fashion. The bulk of the music itself is actually fairly straightforward in nature though the band shapes everything into a higher plane of listening existence. They thus form a blueprint for a one of a kind sound that can only be properly attributed to them and they play the part rather well. I felt like a more studied music listener after listening to the album which credits largely the amount of nuances The Firstborn are able to employ effectively in their music.
Performances are solid with especially good drumming that makes a backbone for the rest of what’s present. There is very little to nitpick with The Firstborn, but the production of the album could be a little more clear and loud perhaps. Overall, The Noble Search is an excellent work that be checked out by anyone looking for something interesting in their overall diet of music.
