something occured to me while listing to some of my absolute favorite albums i own, and the best albums from my favorite bands.

this was, that it seems each best album the band made all seemed to have some killer insturmental track that fit nicly into the works of the album... (master of puppets has the epic orion that works so well, Death has the spactacular and unexpected track Cosmic Sea (from Human))

so i got to thinking, the gathing is certanly one of my favorite' albums, i allways keep it at the top of my cd' stack hell i play it more then metallica ;) so why doesnt it have an insturmental song.... Ah it did, it just got left off!

this kinda urks me, and while i know testament either left it off for some good reason, or some editor some where decided to chop it or what not.... but still i wish it was on the offical (us verson) of the cd...

i thought Hammer of the gods allways provided some kind of closure to the album that was very uplifting in a way to the apocalptic album (after sipledome had fallen and all the world was lost... as if god's hammer was ready to start making something new...)

anyone know why its only on the japanese version?
(am i the only one who thinks that song just rules and shouldnt be left off?)

and i really hope that on the next album nothing will get left off...

It's either that record companies want to give an incentive for Japanese companies to sell it, or cd's are more expensive in Japan, I've heard both reasons.

If you want it, you can buy the japanese version at amazon.com

anyone know where one can just listen to the damn thing as an MP3 without having to order it from japan and break the bank in the process?? : )

umm any place you download mp3's should have it... or if you cant find it i could send it over to ya .

:)

btw its a great song every bit as everything off the gathering

humm sorry max it looks like right when i sent that my email went down... see if i cant find another one while im waiting for it to get back up again...

ill get it to you one way or another.

hey necro
thanks man!
quite a different song from the guys.
i was expecting a fast thrash workout, given the title.
it's got a nice groove, but not as good as the other tracks off the
gathering...
cheers so much!

I can definitely agree with this. Regular CDs cost about $25 in Japan, even for "non-import, regular" CDs (as in Japanese artists, not Testament, Metallica, Slayer, etc.).

(Although looking for "Su-ray-yah" CDs when I was there was fun...especially in the stores that just lumped all the CDs together instead of separating out the "imports"! :))

Hammer of the gods is a fucking great song!!!I have an interview with Eric and he tells that this song reminds him a bit to Kingdom Come (great band, sounds a bit like Led Zeppelin). At this time The gathering wasnt released yet, and it seemed as if they wanted to put it on the album, a shame it didnt happen!! :(

It should be on the album i think it makes it so complete nice way to end the album :)

yeah well hope you enjoy it max took forever for me to get it to you heh... oh well worth it to help out a testament fan :)

At the time the Gathering was going to be put out, Hammer Of The Gods, was'nt completed yet. Their were no vocals written, & had been left off, but still recorded in the Gathering sessions.
So when Japan wanted a bonus song, Hammer was given to them as an insrumental........................................................
But it works, who knows how it would have turned out with vocals???????????????.................................................

Sorry, but maybe I made a mistake. I checked this interview again. Eric was talkin' about this instrumental song called "Second Coming". You think this is another song than "Hammer of the Gods"??? Or did they just change the name..

wow deffinatly wanna know about that flebbie...

hope it is another song id love the gathering to have 2 insturmentals :D

btw to thoughs of you who dont think The Gathering is a perfect 10 album (or damn near) go listen to it again... and get back to me ;)
