I've bought the other day their album "Blast Of Silence" and I quite liked it... Any opinions on the band generally? I was thinking of getting their first album next, since I've read that it's more experimental. What do you think of it?

this is the pop group of bill laswell and anton fier

i really like their first two or three album...

the first album (1983) is with people such as arto lindsay, fred frith and john zorn,is a great cd of improvised music but is really different from the others...

then they develope a pop way, really original but to me less original...

blast of silence is the 3rd ,and is a good album

then (from 1991) they made the same album thousand times...is a pity...

one interesting project developed almost from the same line up is dreamspeed by anton fier...a great experimental spoken word cd with buckethead, bill laswell, bootsy collins, phew(a great japanese singer wife of a member of einsturzende neubauten)....

in VISION OF EXCESS golden palominos have michael stipe of REM at vocals...

:)

Their last album with Nicole Blackman was by far their best. I forget what it was called, but if you like it DEFINITELY get all Recoil (Alan Wilder ex-Depeche Mode project) as he makes music quite similar to the Golden Palominos on that album (Dead Inside?) which even has Nicole Blackman on vocals. One Recoil song has Moby rapping, which is kind of funny, but the rest of his stuff is almost always very good. The album Liquid is particularly amazing.
