The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

He's done this previously as well, although not showing other people involved. As I say, hopefully this time he's in the right frame of mind to finish the job. I'd love to hear it. Once that's ticked off, maybe his long promised revival of DZ will happen.

It’s not that I’m complaining about them releasing music so often, but their standalone singles sometimes feel completely random and forgettable to me. Like that cover EP for example. Its okay song, but i'd rather see them release top quality albums every two, three years without these mediocre singles. But I guess this is something specific because of the upocming tour, judging by the guests...

I love the song, it’s already one of my favorites from them, and it gives me a ton of confidence for the next album.

I do think it’s a bit disappointing just given the talent here— The Black Dahlia feature is good but just good, and I can’t discern Heaven Shall Burn at all— but I’m still really happy with the song.

Now that's more like it. Not a big fan of the last album, I found it just okay-ish, but that's the atmospheric MDM I've been yearning for. No clue where's the HSB feat though. It's probably not a great idea to have two guests in a 4 minute track. Reminds me of that time Avatar had a chance to use Corey Taylor as a guest, so they got him whistling throughout the song.

When the singles for the previous albums were released, I wasn't happy about them. At the time, I thought of them as just OK. After the album was released, I started liking them mich more and now I think that they were great. So, I will keep my opinions until the full thing is released.

Eh, you like what you like. After several listens, I'll take this single over 85% of the last album, which fell pretty flat for me unfortunately. I don't want an entire album like Lest We Fall, but it works as a stand alone single, which I think this is.

I think aside from the covers EP, which was just forgettable, their discography has always been an ‘oh boy, more cake’ sort of thing for me. I do like MotU more than DotL overall, but they are both pretty great, and I get the feeling the third album will be great to me too. I’ve always been surprised to see the couple of people who were disappointed by MotU after enjoying DotL, but I know I thought I’d be one of those people when Detonate first came out.

I’d have more to say, but I’m tired, so I guess cheers is the message.

Yeah, I don't know. MotU has a few high points but way more low for me. The Burning Point is excellent for instance, but everything released as a single, to me, is subpar and nothing stands out as being particularly good. The problem as I see it, is that MotU offered nothing new. It felt like a bunch of leftover tracks from DotL that were mixed almost identically. It doesn't feel like it stands on it's own. That's the best way I can describe how I feel about it. Almost like you could take DotL and MotU, cut out the subpar (or just flat-out not great) stuff, take all the highs and have a 10/10 album. For my personal taste, anyway. Also, I like Mikael Stanne a lot, but his voice feels like it's fucking everywhere these days and I think I'm getting a little burnt out.
