The Hobbit is a go with Jackson

Cool! But, too bad that Peter Jackson won't be producing/directing/writing this like he did for the LOTR masterpiece!

1st off, If I were him, I'd have put off "The Hobbit" until my other projects were 'in the can', or shelve those for awhile. But, alas the pricks at New Line prob'ly said 'Now or never!' Sort of a punishment to him for suing them over screwing over on the LOTR trilogy! It sucks how they raped this project form his hands! They know the fans want HIM to do it!

It really does suck when movies like this in a series are hit by the 'substitute director syndrome'! Much like the Harry Potter series was! Don't get me wrong, I love ALL of them thus far, but there is is some lack of consistency due to this factor! & things like this enrage fans of the books!

Plus, who could possibly do this justice better than Jackson??!!! The guy they want is the one who fucked up Spiderman? Are they fucking serious?

& the other 2 guys are good, but their style is so diff from Jackosn's, I can't see it matching up w/LOTR! We shall see!.... But, I am leery about how good(?) it will be!:u-huh:

The fight hit a low point in November 2006 when New Line actually "fired" Jackson from The Hobbit and Jackson took the battle to his website, TheOneRing.net, telling fans that “New Line would no longer be requiring our services on The Hobbit.”

Hahahahahaha, that's priceless. Somehow my friends who run TheOneRing.net -- and who were in debt for almost two years after financing their amazing Oscars party the year RotK swept the awards -- must have missed THAT particular memo about Peter owning their site.

It was, however, an awesome party of "special magnificence." I was lucky enough to get a VIP ticket for it. :kickass:

Man Pellaz, you know all the cool geeks. :heh:

HELL YEAH!!!!! Finally.... Don't get me wrong - LOVE the cartoons (Hobbit and Lord of the Rings - where there's a whip, there is a way... ) but I've been DYING to see Jackson work his magic on this one...

My interest is peaked to see what he does with Smaug :Smokin:

and I've got a feeling even tho he's not directing this, his vision is going to be the one we see - and I bet neither flick come out until after 2011...

The reason for the immediacy is that New Line Cinema doesn't have the rights forever. Only for a certain time period. Amusingly, they don't have the rights to distribute it =p

Peter Jackson's other projects all look very interesting.

I'm glad they are making a 'Hobbit' movie and a movie that will take place inbetween The Hobbit and the start of Fellowship of the Rings.

bwahahahaha!

I can credit Dragon*Con for most of that. It is the Conjunction of the Million Geeks, and All Things are Possible.

(That ripoff quote from the Eternal Champion cycle reminds me...the 18th was Mike Moorcock's 68th birthday. :kickass: )

Okay.
Who to I contact to be an extra on this movie? I'm serious. I wanna die on a battlefield for this movie. Can I get burned to death by Smaug, or something?

+1

Maybe Pellaz knows someone...

Shit, I wish I did. I could be the corpulent burping guy in Bree, or the second-in-command aboard a corsair who gets shot by Legolamb -- oh, wait, that's Peter Jackson's job.
