I just had a flashback about this and thought I'd share it since it's Maiden related. Back in '85 I got tickets to see my first Iron Maiden gig. My asshole step dad was all up in arms because it was on a school night and that I'd be traveling 100 miles away to San Francisco to see this concert and be back really late. This is when I lived in Watsonville.
So he asked me (yelled actually) why does this concert have to be on a school night. So I explained to him because Iron Maiden are from England and they are touring the WORLD playing 5 to 7 shows a week and there's no way they can make every concert be on a Friday or Saturday. San Fran wound up being on a Wednesday because that's how it was scheduled. He just stared at me blankly all confused. You could hear the theme to "Jeopardy" playing!
Then he asks me why can't they just make the SF show I'm going to be on a weekend and play some where else on a school night?
So I went to the concert (and made it to school the next day), brought back a T-shirt, and showed him the tour dates on the back and explained to him about all these towns they were playing across the USA. Again he stared all blank & confused and said the show I went to should have been on a Friday or Saturday. AAARRRGHH!!! Clueless IDIOT!!! This was my asshole stepdad's good side go figure!!
