I fall on the side of the fence that says The Tea Party are not a metal band. I really don't see how they could be labeled as such either.
Of course I also don't subscribe to the narrowminded 'If its not metal, it's crap!' philosophy either.
Simply put The Tea Party are an amazing band. Excellent musicianship combined with strong songwriting will draw me in every time. The Interzone Mantras has not dominated my CD player like [TRIP]tych has and still does at times, but by no means is it a weak album. It's a great album. If I could get over my Ark and Dan Swanö addictions I'm experiencing as of late this CD would get a lot more play.
If you've never checked this band out, I encourage you to do so. Jeff Martin has one of those charismatic, disticnt voices and over the course of the last few albums these guys have really come into their own. An excellent band that keeps churning out excellent music.
The Tea Party is an awesome band! They are one of my favs right now and have been since Transmission. You will always get the typical metal peeps saying that if it's not metal then they want listen to it. Most of them are closed minded. The Tea Party are excellent musicians and song writers. They incorporate so many generes into their music. I think the new album is great! Although, I am partial to Triptych. Interzone Mantras rules though, and the Illuminations DVD is awesome!
I'm not too keen of Tryptych, it's not as dark as the other releases. The new on 'The interzone mantras' is awesome, it's more in the style of Edges of Twilight, with a bit of splendor solis in there too.
